OK....I've got spring fever! Went to Lowe's the other day to read about tung oil and saw seed potatoes, garlic and onion bulbs, and lots of cold weather items that can be planted here sometime in February. Makes me want to plow the fields on my John Deere and get my hands in the soil. But first I've got to cut down a bunch of trees............... then buy a John Deere.

Just a few shots of our weather today. The air smells crisp and clean. The only sounds that filled the air today ..........soft flakes and bird songs.
Saw the bobcat last night! How cool...............from a distance! The Bellview Fire Dept. had its annual catered winter dinner at the community center. Cliff went to the center with the dept. to set up tables, etc. so I met him there at 6 with our dessert contribution, a 4-layer dark chocolate cake....alternating red raspberry jam filling and white frosting. I got to mix and mingle with the locals, meet the spouses of the fire fighters from Bellview district, thanked the paramedics/emts for doing a job that I wouldn't ever think of doing......don't have the stomach. Lauria and Jim used to run with their dept. in VA and loved it. Spouses were given a ticket for the gift drawing that took place after the dinner. My number was drawn 2nd and I went for the biggest gift bag and received a Conair Home Spa.....foot/hand massage. My first thought was "how big is the foot bath?" I hope it's at least a size 11! Cliff stayed to help clean up the hall so I drove d
The long cold snap has finally broken. Cliff was ready to go back to Florida. Days have been wonderful with above average temps in the low 60's. This morning when Max woke us with her kitty Olympics at 6, the temperature was 45 degrees. Today and tomorrow will be rainy, possible thunder storms tomorrow morning......crazy weather. Cliff's Mother was hospitalized again last night, holding fluid. We'll know more this morning and hopefully she will be released today. The call dredged up emotions and fears that I went through with my own Mother as she aged. Cliff tossed and turned all night. Not an easy time for anyone.

Just playing with new settings on the camera. I finally started to read the manual after owning the camera for 7 years.
Lauria and Jim have been very concerned about Jim's position with AOL when AOL announced awhile ago that there would be a huge lay-off. They got through the Christmas holidays. As usual, rumors went around and upper management put out packages hoping to entice employees to leave on their own. Jim and Lauria discussed this at length, decided to take the chance and remain with AOL. Tuesday night when Jim got home from work, he received an email telling him that he was laid off. What a low cowardly way to mess with a family's life. Please keep Lauria , Jim, and the children in your thoughts and prayers as they begin their journey to recovery in this crazy economy. Our weather: I think we're finally over that hideous cold snap that hit the nation. Yesterday was sunny and temps hit 45 degrees. Never thought that would feel warm! Today should be in the 50's. Schools in this tri -county area have been either closed completely or on 2-hour delays for about a week.

Is winter over yet??

Signs of srping? My amaryllis trying to blossom. Yesterday's sunrise before the snow arrived. Today.........The peak of Clay Durrett Rd. We only got about two inches yesterday but the roads were hazardous. Cliff was out with the fire dept. on accident calls all afternoon and evening. He had to leave the car at the bottom of Clay Durrett and be driven home in one of the fire trucks last night. I hated a winter sky when I was a little girl. Sunshine today..... 22 degrees but cutting bitter wind. We feed nuthatches, cardinals, carolina chickadees, woodpeckers, blue jays, and all the squirrels on Clay Durrett Rd. A winter sky now is peaceful to me. Birds have been eating everything............. old bread and muffins, picked the dried seeds from the mums i didn't get planted. I went out early this morning to see if there were signs of night visitors but the snow was still untouched. Deb and Larry up the mountain had bobcat and other animals prints in their snow. They've see

Happy New Year! It's 21 degrees here and we are in for a 7-10 day cold snap. Night temperatures be single numbers and daytime temps will be in the 20's. Huge, fluffy snowflakes began falling this morning as the sun tried to break through the gray winter sky. Winter Solitude by Matsuo Basho Winter solitude-- in a world of one color the sound of wind.
