Is winter over yet??
Today.........The peak of Clay Durrett Rd. We only got about two inches yesterday but the roads were hazardous. Cliff was out with the fire dept. on accident calls all afternoon and evening. He had to leave the car at the bottom of Clay Durrett and be driven home in one of the fire trucks last night.
We feed nuthatches, cardinals, carolina chickadees, woodpeckers, blue jays, and all the squirrels on Clay Durrett Rd.
Birds have been eating everything............. old bread and muffins, picked the dried seeds from the mums i didn't get planted.
Deb and Larry up the mountain had bobcat and other animals prints in their snow. They've seen the bear most evenings, too, but I still can't get a glimpse of anything but a squirrel.
The cold temperatures bring ravenous appetites and a good time for me to try new recipes on hungry victims. Winter squash, onions, garlic, granny smith apples drizzled in olive oil ready to be oven roasted for soup.
Still haven't made my own bread. Drizzled olive oil on the bread and toasted under the broiler. Layered with avocado, goat cheese, and smothered with garlic infused tomatoes.
Dr. Weil's healthy Roasted Winter Squash and Apple Soup. Mm-m-m-m-m-m........................
