Happiness is...................

a $4 used blender from Logan's Run Thrift Store

to throw in my kitchen scraps when peeling and chopping then blend to a slurry for the garden compost.  Some slurries are poured for a side dressing.  The Russian kale have been growing slowly all winter.  If the temperature is predicted to drop to low twenties, I cover them with buckets until the sun warms the air to thirty-ish.  The blender saves my winter walking up and down the slope so many times lessening my chances of slipping and rolling down the mountain into the creek.  When the blender is full the slurry gets dumps in a larger bucket on the back porch.

Wednesday morning at 7:28..........

Sunrise appeared like a forest fire blazing hot changing ever so quickly.  I don't think the computer picture  transfer shows what the iPhone captured.

Thursday we had six trees taken down, some dead branches removed, and some trees that were shading the vegetable garden topped for more sun.

Cliff spent most of the cold damp morning layered up outside watching the guys climb, cut, and push huge tree chunks into the mulcher.  We like how it's opened up the area. Now that those trees are down, we're seeing more places we'd like opened. Maybe in the fall after the leaves have fallen.

Cliff placing the last puzzle piece.  This was challenging but taught us a lot about patience, perseverance, and strategies. It was especially good for Cliff as it took his mind off his body.

Last Monday was his first iron IV infusion and tomorrow, the 7th, is his second and last.  He should feel a bit more energetic by the end of this month.
