If the first thing you reach for upon waking in the morning is a freshly brewed cup of joe, imagine not having that satisfying caffeine jolt for four days. No warm cup to wrap your hands around as the coffee steam teases your nose and your tastes buds savor the first sips.  Hot peppermint tea just doesn't fulfill the same pleasure. Off and on Saturday, I felt unbalanced, blaming it on fatigue from the drive home from Florida.  I was still feeling punk but figured it was just my body trying to cope.  During the night, I became sick with the stomach flu which makes one so weak and ill that you can't even crawl.  All you can do is lie on the bathroom floor and whimper for help.  It was 24 hours of the worst nonstop body/joint/pain I think I've ever experienced and it quickly dehydrates the body.  Monday afternoon my doctor returned my call with stomach flu instructions.  For the first 24 hours only clear liquids like Gatorade, Pedialyte, teas, water, etc. Next day I could ad
At the end of the summer last year, we booked an Airbnb in Cape Canaveral to see Mark and Jen and take a break from our winter weather.  We were hyped.  I was so pleased that the injections were working and was feeling energetic and lively again.  A week before the trip I decided to Murphy Oil Soap the hardwood floors, just in the kitchen/dining area.  I didn't scrub hard like I was swabbing a ship's deck, but the repetitive mopping wasn't a smart move.  My doctor had just given me the "travel" injection as a safety measure to help make the drive easier but 24 hours after I mopped the floor, shoulder aching started.  Four days later neck and shoulder were fully inflamed with pain radiating across the elbow into the back of my hand.  Because we were leaving in a few days, I ended up back the doctor's for two more injections in the neck area, hoping I'd be able to stand the two day ride.  Between the painful ride and the sleepless nights, I was pretty fatigu

Early morning temperatures have been settling around low twenties.  Daytime temperatures are unseasonably pleasant.  Tuesday was 54 and sunny so I spent a few hours in the sun pulling old dead perennials and mentally planning my early spring garden.  Also protected myself from future injuries by putting Gorilla tape over the tops of remaining PVC pipes that hold raised garden boards in place. Yesterday and today downtown Murphy reached 67 with a heavy cloud cover.  We're under tornado watch until 9 pm. The wind is wild and loud.  Cliff said this air feels like March as spring's warm air collides with winter's cold weather leaving.  I found myself suddenly sitting at the counter in Rick's Diner at 7:30 this morning.  Cliff had another hankering for Rick's waffle, 2 eggs, and bacon.  Of course we were the only ones at the counter.  A few tables had folks but on a gloomy dark stormy morning only crazy people venture out at that hour.  From there we made a quick trip
