Tuesday February 16............. Yesterday morning Cliff drove me to the Cherokee County Health Center for my first Covid vaccine.  Luckily for us, things are very well organized and running smoothly.  I was taken a few minutes after checking in, then vaccinated, and sent to the waiting area with a disinfected 15-minuted timer.  Talked to a few other masked people, strategically placed in the hall, to pass the time.  Later in the day, my arm felt heavy and slightly achy.  I fortified myself with  Motrin at breakfast and continued taking one throughout the day.  Started again this morning with Motrin to help control any inflammation that wanted to take over.  Wrists and fingers feel like they normally would with this miserably dry cold winter weather.  Today is heavy overcast, 26 cutting cold degrees with a light dusting of snow.  Cliff has a nice fire warming the furniture and house.  Stuck to reading, playing a Mahjong computer game, and playing the piano off and on.  No repetitive w
A quick update to let you know that Cliff lived through the night and is back in this world with us.  Last evening he felt well enough to make a couple of eggs for his supper.  By nine o'clock fatigue overtook him again and he went to bed.  We think he ran a fever in the night because he was soaked with sweat at one point in his sleep.  This morning he ate a normal oatmeal breakfast with his dish of blueberries and strawberries.  He made up my bed, brushed his teeth, and is getting ready to do the dishes.  We have haircut appointments for 10 and he feels enough energy to do that.  He looks good and the grey skin color is back to human again.  It's rainy dreary grey this morning with 100% chance of rain today.  Yesterday was 68 with sun so I spent a few hours outside off and on while keeping an eye on him and making sure he hydrated.  Late in the afternoon he did go outside for a few minutes because one of our beautiful large woodpeckers flew into a screened window, very unusua

Cliff went for his booster yesterday with an immediate reaction in his arm.  Arm aching quickly moved into his weaker hip then settled into the rest of the joints. He didn't know he had so many joints. Sleep was unsettled last night.  For breakfast I made him a bowl of gentle cream of rice after which he took two extra-strength Tylenol and cuddling under his electric blanket, slept for a couple of hours. When he talked to our doctor, the doc said his body was having a good strong reaction to the booster and that was a good sign.  It's 11 now and he's up and around and speaking in full sentences.  We'll see how the day goes.  He'll probably just need to nap now and allow the body to rest.   Yesterday Sonny and his side-kick, forgot his name, showed up around 8 am, starting patching little nail holes then went to work.  I spent time in the small bedroom reading and playing the piano until Cliff returned from the Health Center.  We headed out to do errands and have lu
Well, I haven't inflamed wrists or fingers.....yet.  I can into my own little world with the headphones on getting away from covid news or things I don't feel like facing.  Nobody hears my mistakes but me.  It's a nice place to be. Today we started taking down wall hangings, pictures, calendars, etc. to get the rooms ready for a fresh new paint job.  Living room, dining area and part of the kitchen will be refreshed with Canvas Tan and the peaked wall in the living room will be Dried Thyme, an accent color to break up the monotone.  About four years ago we hired a guy we knew, Sonny's Painting, to pressure wash the house and stain it.  I met Sonny more than six years ago in my yoga class at the gym.  He showed up at the classes whenever he could, rainy days when he couldn't paint outside, when business slowed a little, or when his back hurt and he needed to stretch and realign.  Climbing up and down ladders is rough on aging muscles and joints, especially in your s

I began blogging last Sunday but got bored with what I was talking about so never finished.  We've had more cold gray days than sunny ones.  I can handle the cold, not including 10-15 mph winds, if the sun is out.  My little sprouts sitting in the dining room window are trying their darnedest to grow. February is a mean month. Poor Fed Ex delivery guy hauled five heavy boxes up our porch steps probably cursing me with each step. My new Yamaha piano.  I haven't touched a piano in over twelve years and really missed playing.  Cliff spent all afternoon carefully assembling it and I finally sat down this afternoon to feel the music flow through my fingers to my heart.   I love it.  I love it especially because I have a headphone plug-in so only I can hear the sour notes. Practices will be short sessions so I don't overdo with repetition.  My Grandma Still had rheumatoid arthritis and she began playing her piano in her early seventies to exercise the fingers so they wouldn'
