Cliff went out to a medical call in the night and it was snowing...again. More snow is predicted for Wednesday night into Thursday morning so I bought him a sled. Just kidding! Bought this decorative sled to hang outside on the porch in case we have a hot summer like we did last year. It will be my reminder not to complain too much about the heat and humidity because it could be worse. Sandy's, an upscale store with tastes too rich for my palate, is going out of business and everything is 50% off. Also picked up Corinthian Chimes tuned to the key of A. They are already hanging on the porch waiting for me.
In the night the mountain wind gently whispered through the porch corridor and even with the house closed up tight, we could hear the chimes resonate their ethereal melody. The soothing sounds lull you back to into a relaxing sleep.
We're in a real dilemma right now. Spring is coming soon and I want to start my garden which means we have to hire someone to cut down and remove quite a few trees that will prevent 6-8 hours of sun. I want to begin building my chicken coop so I can have a half-dozen chickens to provide us with eggs and some to sell. The Florida house goes on the market April first and originally that sale was going to pay off this mortgage. Now of course, it won't because the market has tanked so badly in central Florida. Here's the dilemma. We like our land, our house, but with the HOA Board dictatorship, we aren't sure whether we should stay in Boulder Creek or not. The road conditions are diplorable and barbaric and we've tried to vote this corrupt Board out, but a large number of land owners live in Florida and either don't vote by proxie or vote to keep the board in because they feel it doesn't affect them. So......do we invest the $$$ in the clearing of trees, plowing a garden, building my coop??....or do we sell the FL house, lose what we've invested here because this has also lost value, and look for another place to start over? Also, eventually when other money frees up, we will add on and build a garage. It would be an easier decision if we were both still pulling our paychecks. Any suggestions, words of advice, or brainstorming?
