A quick update to let you know that Cliff lived through the night and is back in this world with us. Last evening he felt well enough to make a couple of eggs for his supper. By nine o'clock fatigue overtook him again and he went to bed. We think he ran a fever in the night because he was soaked with sweat at one point in his sleep. This morning he ate a normal oatmeal breakfast with his dish of blueberries and strawberries. He made up my bed, brushed his teeth, and is getting ready to do the dishes. We have haircut appointments for 10 and he feels enough energy to do that. He looks good and the grey skin color is back to human again. It's rainy dreary grey this morning with 100% chance of rain today. Yesterday was 68 with sun so I spent a few hours outside off and on while keeping an eye on him and making sure he hydrated. Late in the afternoon he did go outside for a few minutes because one of our beautiful large woodpeckers flew into a screened window, very unusual for that to happen on a screened window, and he carried it down to the leaves in the woods where we said good-bye to him.
Happy Summer Solstice! It was a beautiful start to this day. The typical mountain fog had settled in when I got up at 6:30 but burned off shortly after. I always go outside when I first get up, scan for wildlife, and walk around soaking in the morning peace and calm. Did about 20 minutes of stretchy yoga, showered and had a light breakfast of cream of buckwheat with ghee-fried peaches. I still felt a little full from eating Italian food with Janice last night. We go out at 4:30 and take our time eating and talking, have a glass of wine and Friday night is dessert night. Janice is doing better. It'll be a year in August since she lost Ernie. I left the breakfast dishes in the sink and headed to our Murphy Farmers Market. First stop was "Healing Ways" produce farmers for fresh Swiss chard, butter crunch lettuce, and a bunch of young summer squash and zucchini since all of mine are falling off the plants....
