A few days before Christmas the weather drastically changed from frigid to unseasonably comfortable and my favorite temperature....anything where I didn't need to wear, thick coats, scarves, and shiver. Mark arrived from Melbourne early Monday evening to spend Christmas with me. Tuesday morning we had coffee, bacon and eggs at Waffle King, a wonderful treat for me, then headed to Walmart for Mark to pick out his Christmas gifts for me to wrap and place under the tree. He needed a new toaster, some new sheets and pillow cases, a large bag of pistachios and Andes Mints. On the way home he shopped for me at Tractor Supply. I love that place. He bought me a two bags of bird seed and a couple woodpecker suet squares. When we got home he went into his bedroom and wrapped the gifts so I wouldn't know what I was getting. He also changed the filter and all the smoke alarm batteries, did some outside chores. Tuesday evening we made meatballs with angel hair pasta and broccoli for our supper and dug into pumpkin pie for dessert. Wednesday morning it was bacon and a western omelet for me and a triple platter for Mark at Waffle King again. This is the first time since Jen and Cliff passed away three years ago that we talked and laughed as much. His time here was very therapeutic for us both.
Mark sliced the ham for our Christmas dinner. It was so much easier than a turkey. Glad he suggested it.
I'm bad about taking pictures when my children are visiting. Forgot to ask our diner server to take pictures of us enjoying our breakfasts. It's when the children go home that I remember we didn't take pictures.
Thursday morning he headed back to Florida and sadly on his way home I received a call from the kennel where his two rescue greyhounds were, that his female, Ember, had passed away. Both dogs were elderly but it was difficult to hear. Schroeder is still hanging in for now.
My Christmas rooster.Mark heading back to Florida Thursday morning.
