If you look really closely.....

you'll see the small covey of plump round quail camouflaged in the dead leaves and one near the green power cord.  Since November at least seven show up every morning for breakfast and again around three in the afternoon feasting  on little sprouts and bugs that they scratch up from under the rotting leaves.  They are the cutest little creatures, talking and peeping as they walk around.  When at the kitchen window in the morning I watch how busy they are scratching like chickens, flipping the leaves and turning them over to expose bugs and plant sprouts.  The blend in so well that unless one moves, you'd never know there were quail in front of you.  I've watched them dig and gyrate those round plump bodies into the leafy clay so that only half of their brown feathered bodies are exposed.  Mark got to see them walk around the driveway and scratch the for dinner while he was he.

This one posed for me..................

On Saturday mornings I drive to Blairsville to pick up my fresh co-op order at the Farmers Market Pavilion.  There are over a dozen farmers who sell online during the months that the market is closed until it opens again the first weekend in June.  I usually order the same things for my Saturday drive.  Fresh picked Russian kale, Shitake and lion's mane mushrooms, free-range eggs, spinach, ricotta cheese from Pamela, my goat lady, and whatever else looks good.  It was a rainy stormy Saturday morning and flood warnings were issued for a few areas.

To the right of this photo is where the co-op sets up under the pavilions.  I just came from there and crossed over the bridge to head home.  This creek is probably four feet above normal. Murphy got over two inches with the storm and North Georgia over three in a short time.

The Christmas weather was mild and enjoyable. Glad I could be outside enjoying it.  This morning was eighteen degrees.  It took until noontime before the air warmed up.  Now at 4:15 it's forth-eight and shortly the sun will go down behind  trees and the mountain to drop me into teens again by morning.

I finally got tired of paying for repair on my eleven-year old dishwasher.

My new Bosch was delivered and installed today.  My installer brought his twenty-one year old son to help him install.  This DW can be controlled from an app on my iPhone!  Rob's son set it up for me because I'm lost when it comes to techie things.  I'm learning and have tackled some new issues lately.  Patted myself on the back.  His son said I could sit in my recliner and turn the DW on/off while watching TV.  I asked him if I could turn on other peoples DWs as I was drivng by their houses!
