We went tubing down the Toccoa River in GA this morning with our friends from the mountain. The excursion down the river takes about 2.5 hrs and is about 6 miles long. Cliff: The water was quite high and it resulted in several big dropoffs. I (Cliff) flipped over and went underwater a couple of times. Lots of fun, but quite rough at times. It was real great fun.
These are not pics of us. These people knew what they were doing! This was new to us so when we heard the sound of the rapids, our lives passed before us. I kept getting my big behind stuck on the rocks and Cliff struggled to steer his tube and stay upright in the rapids. The water temp was actually refreshing because it's been 90 here....hot for June. All in all, we had a great day.

I have always wanted to try tubing - looks like so much fun! I will show Nana these pictures next time she comes up. I hope this comment works - I tried about 4 times to send the other one and I don't know which one went...:)...I'm sooooo stupid when it comes to this hi-faluking (sp????????-phoentically)internet stuff!

bert says the posting site is probably rocky mt time or pacific coast time. bert was exhausted by the time we got to shore. i'm still learning all this blog stuff and now that i'm retired, i really enjoy messing around. my daughter is a big help because she started blogging 4 yrs ago when she and her husband started the adoption procedure. thanks for reading mine, diane....it's a great way to keep in touch and see your family and friends.

i had a massage scheduled for tomorrow and after bouncing around the rapids, i figured i'd need it. got a call from my massage therapist asking if we could reschedule!!! ahhh! i have to hold off on the aches and pains until thursday. took two xtra strength arthritis tablets to ward off the evil spirits.....

 I may repeat things I've already posted.  It's not due to age. I'm too lazy to go back and  reread what I blogged previously.   I've joined the Murphy Health and Fitness gym that's located right across from Konhete Park where I walk so I can swim now too.  I didn't realize how much I missed being in the water.  The other gym, Erlanger Fit Plus membership runs out in September.  Cliff and I belonged to it since moving here and it has a great rehab program that both of us have used at different times.  One time I asked a therapist about knee discomfort/pain and he showed me ways to strengthen quads and leg muscles to prevent knee weakness.  Cliff did PT a few times for back discomfort due to belly pulling on his back muscles.  After the PT a patient get a free month at the gym.  We did Zumba and yoga classes together.  But now I need to swim.  Pool is heated when the temperatures cool down.   Our mornings have bee...

 Our last cold spell is this weekend, the blackberry winter. I got to the Murphy farmers market by 9 this morning to buy a bag of fresh crisp spinach and a huge head of butter crunch lettuce which will last one person two weeks.  Fresh greens go quickly and our small market has only two farmers right now.  My plan was to walk the river loop after the market but the wind picked up and a cool misty rain changed my mind. I have "empty nest" syndrome again........... I slowly walked over to the nest to check if the babies were still inside the nest and caught this one sitting on the edge.  When I came back with my phone it was hiding but I took the picture and as I slowly walked away it jumped out of the box and flapped to the porch floor probably thinking "monster alert!"  It hopped around the floor flapping but not becoming airborne.  I left it lone so parents could tend to it, took the Toyota and went to Lowe's.  Lowe's was so mobbed with mulch and plan...

 The driveway snow and ice seemed as if it was softening and melting at a pretty good rate and I had been storing trash bags in the Toyota for two weeks. Today there were five bags and I thought I'd take the truck out to the transfer station to toss bags, plastics, and wine bottles.  When backing out I guess I backed out a little too far out and got hung up on a patch of ice. So dropped back a little more, turned the front wheels at a different angle and slowly trying not to spin thought I could catch the wheels on gravel.  I tried putting it into four-wheel drive.  Cliff told me years ago how to do it, but like anything that I don't do often, it was erased from my memory.  That one wheel found the ice and and just kept spinning.  My neighbor further up the road,who is a retired South Florida firefighter and now a volunteer for Bellview St. 17, came to my rescue.  He showed me how to put it into four-wheel drive then offered to take all my trash becaus...
