Last week this area went from many weeks of no rain again to six inches of rain in two days, cutting gullies in our Boulder Creek roads, and rivers flowing down the mountains.
my back yard north side of the house flowing all the way to the creek
The first storm dropped five-and-a-half inches in two hours sounding like the Ocoee White Water rafting area in Tennessee. We need a few days of slow rains to bring us back out of fire danger as many areas also need.
I've been trying to blog but the internet has been acting up so I was quite surprise when I gave it a try tonight. It's nine o'clock and too late to thing. Hopefully I can get back on in the next couple of days.
Next day..... Tuesday
Looks like the laptop is behaving.
This is "Dirty Gertie." She, I believe, is one ticked off female. I have a plastic bag full of wild daisies that Nikki pulled off the mountain side and brought to me. Our subdivision is scheduled to be mowed and weed whacked this week taking down all of the beautiful wildflowers. This afternoon I started digging in the hard-packed front clay and found a spot that I could work in. I dug and poked and moved dead leaves and soil to plant the daisies. Walked back to get the pan of soaking flowers and returned to find
a very angry fat toad. This being spring and she was buried, I am assuming this is a protective pregnant female. She rose up high on all four legs, spread herself and yelled hideous sounds at me. Have never heard or seen this ever and I've accidentally uncovered many toads while gardening here. So I picked up the pan of daisies and found another site far from her. After I planted the flowers in a safer spot, I returned to see if she went back into the leaves and dirt. She was out of sight, mostly likely buried herself up again. This is her protective stance.
It won't be long we'll be rescuing box turtles from our road and placing them in the direction they are heading on the safe side of the road.
I attended the H2O HIIT water aerobics class this morning at 9 o'clock. It's faster moving with fewer breaks and we burn 500 calories in the hour. But that's not why I take that class. This time of year I like getting to the gym early and this class is fun and a social hour of happy men and women laughing and singing to Elaine's music. Then I'm done for the day and can garden or do errands.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, I go to outpatient at the hospital and get my second Prolia injection if my calcium numbers are high enough.
Weather is cooler than normal but pleasant. Forty when I get up, taking all day to reach seventy by late afternoon. This weekend is the big change reaching high eighties. Wish this could last until June.
