HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The decorations are mostly down and packed. We're leaving one box available as it never fails that we find a few Christmas items in plain view that we missed. Still have the artificial inside tree to disassemble and pack and the three outside window wreaths to take down. We'll complete this in the next couple of days and then pack our bags for a trip south for our condo week on the east coast of Florida. I'm actually looking forward to it.
Our holiday season, starting with Mark and Jen's Thanksgiving visit, was busy and enjoyably spent with family and dear friends. We attended Pat and Larry's Christmas open house, spent an evening with some of our neighbors at their church for the living Christmas tree presentation, and listened to The Christmas Carol reading at the folk school.
We hoped Matthew and Taelor would be spending spent Christmas Day with us but at the last minute they ended up packing boxes for a move to their new address. Barb and Mike arrived at their home in Blairsville, GA just before Christmas so they spent Christmas day with us. I cooked the turkey, sitting in 2 cups of white wine and water, like my sister and brother-in-law do at 500 degrees for about 1 1/2 hours (give or take) and it was so moist. Barb made the gravy. We had winter squash from our garden and the farmers market, baked potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, etc., brownies, apple pie, ice-cream, wine and laughter. Christmas Day was sunny and 50-ish. We had the kitchen door open while preparing the dinner. Last night Cliff and I welcomed in the New Year in our usual fashion.............falling asleep by 10 o'clock. This morning Cliff told me it didn't feel like 2015. What does 2015 feel like?
December was pleasant and mild up until a few days ago, but I think winter has finally settled in. It's been 20 at night, 40 today, cloudy, and cold. The Farmer's Almanac isn't predicting any major snow events for us.
