Weather channel app on my cell phone predicted a 24% chance of rain today. It's been raining since about 11 am. Not hard, just a continuous gentle rain. I worked in the yard anyway. Raked some leaves and put down new mulch in a few areas. Pulled up the green and yellow bean plants in the garden. They seem to be tired and are producing alien-looking beans. The Swiss chard I planted in the spring is finally growing. I planted a small area of beets for fall. Carrots look like they may ready soon. The summer squash plant showed rot from the lack of sun and the overly moist soil so it's been uprooted and thrown deep into the woods. I picked another zucchini this afternoon and because the plant has a few more blossoms it's earned a reprieve. The majority of the garden if full of red salvia and holy basil herbs that reseeded themselves from last years flowers. Moon flowers and morning glories climb inside the garden fence so the bunnies and deer can't eat them this year. It's been an interesting growing season. Cliff's seven foot tomato has lots of tomatoes.
The tomatoes need sun to ripen.
His tomatoes looking toward the sky for sunshine.
Moonflowers vining up the pvc where my tomato plant used to be.
Kitchen garden with sage, lemon balm, holy basil, Italian basil. They do pretty good considering it's mostly shady.
Yesterday's easy light supper was stuffed baked tomatoes. Not our tomatoes. Bought four from the farmers market.
Cliff stained the porch on the few dry mornings we had before late afternoon rain chances.
His weekend was rough with bone pain and slow-start mornings. Today he had a dentist appointment to check on his overall mouth health. Mouth, teeth, gums are all a part of a strong immunity. This should be the beginning of his good week. We'll go for walks, relax on the porch, and whatever else he feels like doing. He already knows that tomorrow, Wednesday, he wants Flo's Filet at Longhorn. We're wearing masks again whenever in we're out in public. A neighbor up the road who has had the Covid vaccines has the Delta variant and is isolated at home until she's told she is safe to leave her house. So with Cliff's weakened immune system, we're back to being cautious.
