Blairsville, Georgia is a neat city.  Only about twenty minutes down the road from us, we can shop at Home Depot, eat at Fatz or The Armadillo Grill and do an energizing walk at Meeks Park.  It's not far from Young Harris College where we can go to the planetarium then drive a little further to the winery.  Blairsville would have been our second choice when we moved here.  Imagine my excitement and surprise when I found out Barb and Mike had purchased their future retirement home in Blaisville!  Last weekend they were able to steal three days from Barb's busy back-to-school schedule and spend time in their new home.  Barb and I stood on the back porch and imagined where the birdseed feeders and hummingbird feeders would be place and visualized her chickens running around the back yard and where Mike would build his "man cave."  After a few days of shampooing carpets, scrubbing the back porch, and all the other exhausting chores that have just begun for them, they took a break and spent Saturday evening with us at the Tin Loong buffet in Blue Ridge.  This weekend would have been a choice time to be here as we are in for cool mornings in the 50's and days in the low 70's.

Four inches of rain fell Sunday and another inch and a half on Tuesday.  The new fall broccoli plants lie flat in the soil begging for mercy. I planted spinach and lettuce a few days ago.  This is my last attempt.  If the clay is too wet and seeds rot, I'm done for the fall.  Will have Cliff till the soil later and leave it until late February/early March.  This morning the 6 am temperature was 58 degrees and I had to wear long jeans as the high today was 75, feeling chilly after high 80's for many weeks..  AC is off and windows are opened.
