Thursday Cliff drove me to the rheumatologist in Gainesville, GA for my blood work results.  I definitely have rheumatoid arthritis.  RA left untreated can eventually affect the other organs and will deteriorate the joints.  So with that bit of info, and much to my dismay, I chose to go with the offered Rx.  The drug is an anti-malarial used to treat patients with lupus and RA when other methods have failed.  My friend, Pat, says now I won't have to worry about getting malaria when we eat at Downtown Pizza.  Dr. Lovell's recommendations were to continue my exercise program, as long as I don't overdo, (who me?) and continue with my heart healthy and Mediterranean eating.  The first time we went to Gainesville, my appointment was for 8:15 AM and on the way back home at 9:30, we found a creamery that made its own ice-cream on site but didn't open until 10.  I made this appointment for 10.  After this visit we had lunch at Happy China, a small family owned restaurant in Gainseville, and then stopped at Mountain Fresh Creamery to enjoy a cup of mint chocolate chip while rocking on the porch.

The Chinese food didn't comply with heart healthy or Mediterranean but we fixed that by having good home-made dairy products and I can fit chocolate into any food group.

Past couple of days have been very heavy.  We did the Farmers Market yesterday and felt so sleepy by 11.  Not many vendors set up and hardly anyone came. We think between getting children back to school and the hot heavy feeling in the air, people avoided the market.
This middle schooler sets up her tent weekly with her mother's help and sells her artwork and nature note cards. Her violin playing is amazing for someone her age.  All of her proceeds go to helping people in Haiti.

Before the thunderstorms began this afternoon, I went down to the garden to check on my vegetables.

With my seed order from Annie's Heirloom Seeds this spring, I received a free packet of eight ball squash.  Found these two thriving and more on the vine.  Winter squash will be part of our Christmas dinner in December.
