When it rains, it pours.  Late Friday afternoon our 4-year-old refrigerator started making a whirrrrring noise that progressively got louder.  We recognized the sound because two-and-a-half years ago that sound cost us $250 for a new fan and labor.  Figuring the fan would burn out over the weekend before the service man could get here and we'd have no place to store the food, we bought a dorm-size refrigerator that is now sitting empty out on the back porch.  This time we didn't need a fan but still had to empty the fridge so the repair man could take off the back and use his hair dryer to melt all the built up ice.  He told us that new appliances have more things that go wrong because of the technology and chips, etc.  So now we have an empty fridge on the porch and we don't even drink beer.  Guess I'll put some ketchup, relish, mustard and things that we'll use when we eat on the porch.

Eight o'clock Monday morning as I headed out to the gym, my Kia started making a whirrrrring noise so I went straight to the service dept and asked someone to listen to it.  The solenoid was going and needed to be replaced.

Before the long rainy spell we just went through, Cliff called Truett Trucking for a crush-and-run load to be delivered.  Tuesday morning while the refrigerator repair van was in the driveway, the load of crush-and-run arrived.  The van was moved and the load delivered.
It took longer than usual to empty his truck because the load was wet and packed tight.  He had to keep shoveling and loosening the gravel. Soon after the load was emptied, Jamie arrived with his tractor with a grading blade and spread the gravel down to the garage, over near the shed, and up to the road.  As soon as he left, Rich arrived with my new shelves for sewing storage and my display hat rack for the farmers market.  While all this was going on a friend of Cliff's from the fire dept arrived to till the garden for us.  We needed a traffic cop on Clay Durrett.
The stained cabinets fit next to the armoire and will hold lots of sewing notions.  Rich painted the hat display rack whimsical fun colors which I love!
The garden is nicely tilled to a fine texture.  This afternoon Cliff trenched two rows for our potatoes.  We planted 10 German Butterball and 10 Russian Banana Fingerlings, both new to me.
One of our 16 spring music garlic.   I set these back in October and covered the bed with leaves for the winter.
Rhubarb poking their little heads through the leaves and moist soil.  We've been busy that last couple of days.  Spring is so exciting and renewing.
