July 5....morning
bought some worms to help enrich in this container herb garden.......hope I haven't baked them in the afternoon sun
Crisp start to this morning. Temp was 54 when Maxine poked my head with her little white paw to get up and feed her at 6:40. Yesterday hit high 80's. Funny how high 80's in Florida this time of year would have been a bonus, a pleasant day. We haven't had a rain in over a month. When Lauria, Jim, and the children visited in April, we were in a rainy spell and were afraid it would rain during their whole stay. Now the foliage is covered with clay dust. My morning glories are attempting to climb........but slowly. Had a few blossoms yesterday and put the sprinkler on early this morning.
Trying to grow gourds along the fence.
Went up the mountain to Deb and Larry's tiki bar for an impromptu 4th. Everyone just brought whatever they had available around the house and it was more relaxing than a planned meal. We had watermelon chunks, a cool summer salad, a delicious thrown together cream cheese crab dip, the fresh baked garden zucchini bread, and Larry grilled dogs and brauts. He is a very creative chef so dessert was grilled pineapple slices, fresh peach chunks with scoops of vanilla ice cream and a sauce that he threw together. Can't remember what he made but it really "topped" off the dessert.
