Cool with a little humidity at 8 am when I headed to my vendor tent at the L & N Depot.

From my seat under the tent.
The morning began slowly.  Maybe people slept in on this cloudy cool morning.  Usually the serious produce shoppers arrive early, buy what they need before the farmers sell out, and bolt.  The shoppers who arrive later, like 10:45 or so, stroll and talk to the vendors, feel and touch the products, and linger making their trip a social event.  It was about then that my sales picked up.  Every market day is a surprise.  Today I sold all hats, adult and children, no aprons, no cloth recycle bags. Will sew more hats and a few new aprons for next weekend, Labor Day weekend, which should be good for sales, unless tropical storm/hurricane Erika drops in and rains on us.

Sofia sent this shot of her fat hummingbird up in Virginia.
Gourds and morning glories vining up my windmill.

A few weeks ago Sonny's Painting pressure washed the whole house and this past week he stained the front and back.  Cliff and I will stain the deck, rails, and east side.  Sonny said the west side is so protected from the elements, there is no reason to stain it now.  He taught Cliff some of the tricks of the trade in getting a smooth finished stain.  When I feel the stain is thoroughly dry, I'll climb a ladder, wash the peak windows, and replace the bird alert decals.

The summer weather is waning.  There is a difference in the sun's rays.  Evenings invite you to sit out in the refreshing air. We attended a bluegrass concert in the open barn at the John Campbell Folk School last evening.  One more concert in the open barn and then all concerts will be held inside the Keith House.   The first weekend in October is the two-day Fall Festival at the school.  We always look forward to this weekend.
