Guess I'd better let my readers know that I haven't slit my wrists or jumped off the mountain.  We had thawing all day yesterday but still had some very icy patches so couldn't get down the road.  Cherokee County Schools have been closed all week and kids won't go back until next year.  From a teacher's point of view, this must have been a nightmare. I know some parents think the teachers were jumping with joy but there are  lesson plans and a curriculum that the teachers needed to complete.

Cliff's night classes also were cancelled so he'll go back in January and finish up this course. Thawing continued throughout the night and we were able to get off this blasted mountain  road this morning.  It's a good thing because we had eaten all the Oreos and i cooked up the last brownie mix.  This morning we drove to the Pack n' Ship and I finally mailed the Christmas packages and cards.  Then we went to the butcher shop for more fish, chicken, and beef.  Stopped by Wally-World to buy cat food, litter, and more Oreos. Temperature stayed at 46 and sunny. Our propane delivery came this afternoon and the driver told Cliff he has been trying to deliver for two days and has never seen this road in such poor condition.  I don't know how the HOA board can live with themselves.

Cliff has been working for a couple of weeks on the generator that we brought from Florida.  Today he finally  fixed the carburetor, replaced a gasket, and got it running.   He felt really good when it started and kept running.  Funny how working outside in 46 degrees and sunshine feels good after -7 wind chills.

All in all today was full of positives.  The temperatures are normal, the road thawed and we got off the mountain to replenish our Oreo stash.  The propane delivery insured us that we won't freeze.  Cliff got the generator up and running.  And best of all, after a week without NCIS,  the program is  back on TV tonight.
